Have you recently been diagnosed with IBS or you’ve been battling with it for a long time ? Moving slightly away from my love from cooking, today we are speaking a bit about Irritable Bowel Syndrome. IBS is a common condition that affects the digestive system. The exact aetiology is not fully understood and the diagnosis is carried out by excluding other conditions with similar signs. Here I’ve prepared for you the 1st and 2nd line of advice that people with diagnosed IBS are recommended to follow to ease their symptoms including distention, excessive wind, constipation, diarrhoea tiredness, lethargy. Can’t stress enough that if you are of those who are currently experiencing some or all of IBS symptoms but have not been diagnosed yet, you should first speak with your doctor to exclude any other pathological conditions with similar manifestations. and if you are, you can be referred to a registered dietitian by your GP, through self-referral or consult a private registered dietitian who you can find through the BDA website at : https://freelancedietitians.org

Summer is my favourite season and I am not gonna lie I would rather be spending it by the beach as usual!
UK weather is treating us nicely these days so I can't complain! For most of us summer means spending more time outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and being more active in general. By moving more in hot weather, our brain signals the body to produce more sweat in order to keep it cool but it can cause dehydration if water is not replenished along with. Water is one of the biggest constituents of human bodies. So, how can we ensure that we get enough of it? Check some tips I've shown you above of how to achieve that! xxx Good evening my beautiful people :)
So, I saw this on the news the other day and I can safely say that I was quite shocked to hear that an action like this could potentially go forward in the UK The relationship between exercise and weight loss is not new to any of us and yes people that aim to lose weight are advised to carry out some sort of physical activity but same as people who simply wish to maintain a healthy heart and overall well-being. NO amount of exercise can compensate for a nutritionally poor diet but it can only compliment a healthy lifestyle. All of us are advised to make ourselves aware of our calorie intake in order to maintain a healthy and stable weight. But, in my opinion dictating such a direct relationship between energy intake and energy expenditure can potentially lead to an obsession with the way we perceive our body and looks. Even if we wanted to so strictly relate our calorie intake with the duration of exercise needed to burn it off we would most probably end up miscalculating.. and this is because not two people can have exactly the same metabolism. Some of us 'burn' calories faster than others and the type of exercise plays a substantial role in this. Therefore, your 30min jog cannot do the same to your body as to mine. But most importantly, do not do anything to punish your body whether this is constantly avoiding a food that you like or exercising to burn off that chocolate bar. Know what's good for your body and learn how to respect it by nourishing it as much as you can. Exercise because it's fun to be out and about and not as a way of punishing your body for picking the 'bad' food to eat.. There is no 'good' or 'bad' food xxx So, this whole Brexit deal/no-deal situation seems to still be out of control and of course food supply arrangements could not be missing from the absolute political mess ruling the country right now. It is not a secret that a substantial amount of food is imported to the UK and regardless of the Department of Health who reassure that the quality of food in schools will be unaffected, it is believed that behind closed doors, they negotiate food shortages, price rises and vulnerable people not have access to food (BDA, 2019). Among these people are school children, who it is believed that could potentially be affected in the government's attempt to cut costs. The British Dietetic Association has raised concerns since it is believed that millions of children the meals that consume at school provide their main source of nutrition (SUSTAIN, 2019) As a result of this, people have started buying food supplies which is believed to cause further disruptions in the food supply chain. Hearing this news I did feel that it would be a pity for the UK government fail to continue supply students with nutritious food during school hours and I just hope that especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and families of low income will not be affected by the situation and students will continue to be fed well.
