So, this whole Brexit deal/no-deal situation seems to still be out of control and of course food supply arrangements could not be missing from the absolute political mess ruling the country right now. It is not a secret that a substantial amount of food is imported to the UK and regardless of the Department of Health who reassure that the quality of food in schools will be unaffected, it is believed that behind closed doors, they negotiate food shortages, price rises and vulnerable people not have access to food (BDA, 2019). Among these people are school children, who it is believed that could potentially be affected in the government's attempt to cut costs. The British Dietetic Association has raised concerns since it is believed that millions of children the meals that consume at school provide their main source of nutrition (SUSTAIN, 2019) As a result of this, people have started buying food supplies which is believed to cause further disruptions in the food supply chain. Hearing this news I did feel that it would be a pity for the UK government fail to continue supply students with nutritious food during school hours and I just hope that especially vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and families of low income will not be affected by the situation and students will continue to be fed well.
